Mom's Day Out: Morning with AR Workshop Savannah

I don’t get many mom outings, a day without the kids, especially on the weekend but I was invited a few weekends ago by my friend Amy Darley for a fun morning out with other influencers at AR Workshop Savannah! AR Workshop is a new boutique DIY studio in Savannah that offers hands-on classes creating custom home décor.  I love a good DIY and was so excited to create a custom piece for our home.

I chose to make a wood framed sign to hang in my master bedroom. AR Workshop has so many fun projects though, not just wood signs. A few of the ladies made cheese boards and decorative trays. They offer classes to make chunky knitted blankets and it’s on my wish list of classes I want to sign up for.

You don’t need any carpentry skills for these classes. The girls and I had a blast. There was fun music playing while we worked and we drank mimosas.  I mean, such a fun way to spend a Saturday morning! And I got to take my hard work home with me in the form of a super charming and rustic wood sign!

Check out some of the fun shots I took while we were getting our wood-working on!

3 Ways to Style Grey Wedge Sneakers

I am excited to start a new series with you. Versatility is so important to me when I am making purchasing decisions because I need to know I can wear things in different ways and that those items will work with the rest of my closet. My first "ways to style" post is sharing different ways to wear grey suede sneakers. I don't know what has taken me so long to try this trend out.

I received these fun grey wedge sneakers care of Pic and Pay and I was so excited get to style them! This Zaven style is from their new spring collection! You can find them on Amazon!

So let's get to it! First I paired the sneakers with a grey peplum tee and green pants for a super casual look. One thing you will know about me is that I prefer outfits I can wear easily around my kiddos. Luckily these wedges are so comfortable and dress this simple outfit some!

For my next look, I changed into a pair of high-waisted black denim, a white tee and my favorite leopard utility jacket. I've had this jacket for years and I still love it! This is probably my favorite look out of the three!

For the last look, I paired the wedges with some classics- a striped tee, black leggings and a denim jacket. This is my go-to weekend look. It's comfortable and casual- my favorite combo!

So which look is your favorite of the three? I'd love to know!

Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed this new series and if you'd like to see more. What else would you like to see styled? I hope these posts spark some inspiration for you. I would also love to know additional ways to style these wedge sneakers so if you have a pair and wear them let me know how you style them!

A Space to Call My Own

One of my first home projects this year is transforming my guest bedroom into a space for me. Noah has his own room in the house and the kids have a playroom, but there is no space for me. We have a guest bedroom in the house but most of the time it's being underused.

I want to transform my guest bedroom into a space I can work and be creative. I cannot wait to share the big reveal but I thought I would first share my vision with you. I am working with a local interior designer, Stephanie Hoey Interiors, for help designing the space. Stephanie sent me the inspiration board and I love the mix of chic and modern. She's already provided some great recommendations and I know together we will bring this vision together!

Now, I am on the hunt for some budget-friendly pieces to order so we can achieve this look for the room. Below are some items I have purchased so far and also have my eyes on! Do you have a space in the house to call your own? I think it will make the world of difference to focus my blog work and also a place to relax! Let me know if you run across any of these items or items you think would complement my office! Please and thank you!

Happy 10 Year Anniversary: Botanical Gardens Styled Shoot

This past spring I had the opportunity to collaborate with Hilary Hull Photography on a bridal greenhouse photo shoot. It was fun to play dress up for a morning and I even recruited Noah to join me. It has been almost 10 years since I was last in a wedding dress I thought it would be so special for Noah and I  to celebrate our anniversary by being a part of this shoot. It was wonderful to work with Hilary on this collaboration.

I pitched the idea of taking photos inside of a greenhouse and Hilary loved it. She worked with the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens and we scheduled an early morning shoot.

We had some amazing vendors to make this shoot really come to life. If you're planning a wedding I definitely recommend looking into the following vendors!

The venue was just beautiful the morning we shot. It was the perfect landscape for a wedding.

Spring Cleaning: Reasons to Hire a Professional Organizer

So with spring in full bloom, who has that itch to do some spring cleaning?

Today, I'm sharing my recent spring cleaning project and my first experience with a professional organizer, Kate from Orchid Organizing.

Last summer our family moved into a new house. The house was built in 1984 and we fell in love with its quirky floor plan and because it had so much room for the whole family. Noah has his man cave, the kids have their own play room and it has a nice open lay out. What the house does not have (to which I sacrificed) is my dream closet. There is no walk-in closet and the space is limited for sure.

As you can imagine a small closet is not ideal for someone with a love for fashion. I had clothes and shoes just vomiting out of it every day (i.e. first photo below). There was no rhyme or reason for anything and since moving in a year ago, I haven't had the chance to deal with the mess... Insert Kate Jones.

Kate of Orchid Organizing is a professional organizer. She specializes in helping clients clear the clutter and reclaim their space. She offers services that is best suited for you- from customized plans for the do-it yourself clients that just want some direction and tips to full in-home organization where Kate will spend the time with you to help do the dirty work! Another great option she offers is virtual organizing!

Now, some may wonder... Why do you need to hire a professional organizer? Well, I am a super organized person (usually) and I know I am capable of doing it on my own. However, there are certain things professional organizers are better at.

Today, I am sharing the my reasons to hire a professional organizer:

1) The task of organizing is overwhelming. I have been in the new house for a year and still didn't know where to start. I think this happens to a lot of people. They have all the intentions but because the thought of it is so overwhelming they tend to put it off.

2. Organizing is emotional. You hang on to the same pants because you think you're going to lose the weight. You hang on to that dress because you've gotten so much wear out of it and it makes you feel good. It gets way too hard making those tough decisions on what to keep, what to donate and what to throw away.

3. Clutter accumulates quickly. There is so much out there to purchase! I know being a fashion blogger buying things becomes your work. You buy so you can blog about it and it starts to fill your closet!

4. Hiring someone to help makes you more accountable. Working with Kate, we made a plan. We set a schedule for things and we had a planned date to get the job done. It's so easy to put the non-fun chores off for another day when it's just up to you.

5. Trying to organize yourself is like trying to cut your own hair. Some tasks are just best left for the professionals. This is their sole job. They are the experts when it comes to knowing where to start, how to best manage your time and accomplish the exact results you want.

BEFORE

The 4 bin system! Okay, so I noticed I spelled Sell incorrectly... I had yard SALE on my mind, okay?

Time to sort!
The cutest little helper, Mia!
Isn't Kate just the cutest!?
It only took two hours from start to finish to get my closet organized!

AFTER: I'm so happy with the results! I love using the shelves for my shoes!

I highly recommend anyone to work with Kate! She was so great to work with. Not only is she professional and sweet but she provided so many great tips and tricks about how to sort through my items and how to creatively use the space I had.

Check her out if you've got that spring cleaning itch! Also, if you mention this blog post you'll receive her signature consultation ($100 value) for FREE!

Last week, I was invited along with my older daughters to join Candace, owner of Moss & Marsh, in studio to screen-print some tees in anticipation for their big T-shirt launch next week on April 19th!

Ava and Lily were so excited and I was too. I was excited to spend time with just them and also for use to learn something new together.

The whole screen-printing process is so interesting and super fun! I loved the reactions the girls both had as we lifted the screen to reveal their shirts!

Flat-Lay Challenge Part 3

Today I'm sharing my last look from my "bring a flat-lay to life" series. I styled this Tobi ruffled tiered sleeve sweatshirt. It's such a fun and comfy top! Detailed sleeves have been popular! Are you a fan of them? I styled the sweatshirt with a pair of my favorite distressed jeans and a necklace from Kendra Scott's newest spring collection.

If you haven't checked out the spring collection yet you need to! The pieces are so fun and so different. I am wearing the Inez necklace in Abalone shell.

Flat-Lay Challenge Part 2

My second look for this challenge included this Tobi cold shoulder dress/tunic. This is a first cold shoulder top for me.  I paired it with leggings and over-the-knee boots. I added a pendant to complete the look. Are you a fan of cold shoulder tops?

Flat-Lay Challenge Part 1

I'm trying something different for me this week. I thought it would be fun to create three flat-lays and then bring them to life! I admit I'm not the best at creating them but I liked how these came out! Sometimes you put together a look and then when you actually put the items on it's not what you imagined. You'll have to tell me how you think I did!
