Teacher Gifts: DIY Christmas Hand-Painted Clear Plastic Ornaments

This year I wanted the kids to be involved in their teacher gifts and I thought it would be fun to make our own Christmas ornaments. The ornaments turned out so cute and I really hope their teachers love them.

I love homemade ornaments from the kids because they are always adorable, make great keepsakes and we make great memories doing them.

I headed to Michael's and the Dollar Tree for supplies and used some supplies we already had around the house.

DIY: HOW TO MAKE CHRISTMAS HAND-PAINTED CLEAR PLASTIC ORNAMENTS

Supplies:

Pack of clear plastic ornaments (we found a 12 pack on sale for $5)
craft paint (red, black, white, green) (*we already had brown, light green, orange and white puff paint from previous projects)
paint brushes
filler (I used decorative shred paper, but you could use fake snow, glitter, tissue paper, etc.)
ribbon
treat bags
scissors
black Sharpie (to put the kids' name on the back of the ornaments with the year)

Snowman Ornament

1. First, dip the thumb finger in the white paint and place thumb print on ornament. Do this three times to create the body of the snowman. Then, let the ornament dry and move on to the next ornament,
2. Use the black paint for the eyes, buttons, and hat of the snowman. (tip: You may want to let the paint dry in between paint layers so it doesn't mix or smear)
3. Use the orange to paint the carrot nose.
4. Use brown to create the stick arms.
5. Use white to paint the dots around the front of the ornament for "snow"
6. Set aside to dry. Once it is dry, use the desired filler to fill the ornament.
7. Add ribbon

Gingerbread Man Ornament

1. Dip the thumb finger in the brown paint. Create the head and body of the gingerbread man.
2. Use the pointer finger to create the arms and legs. (tip: You may want to let the paint dry in between paint layers so it doesn't mix or smear)
3. Use red to create the cheeks and buttons.
4. Use the white puff paint to create the zig zag lines on the arms and legs.
5. Use the black to paint the eyes and mouth
6. Set aside to dry. Once it is dry, use the desired filler to fill the ornament.
7. Add ribbon

Wreath Ornament

1. Use darker shade of green and dip the thumb . Place the thumb prints on ornament in circular shape. Let dry.
2. Use light shade of green and dip the thumb. Place the thumb prints on the ornament layered over the dark green to complete the wreath shape. Let dry.
3. Use red to paint the holly dots
4. Set aside to dry. Once it is dry, use the desired filler to fill the ornament.
5. Add ribbon

Gift Wrap:

I picked up festive clear plastic treat bags from the dollar store. I plan to fill them with Hershey's hugs and kisses tie them off with ribbon and gift tag.

We made teacher presents and a few to keep for our tree too! They are just the cutest, don't you agree?

The ideas are endless for these clear ornaments. With four kids, I have to think of budget-friendly options. Those options don't have to be dull or cheap. These ornaments took love and mean so much more!
