Memorial Day Weekend 2013

We had a great time this past weekend. Our friend Shannon and her son Carter came down from Virginia for a visit. The kids had a blast playing with each other. We spent the weekend shopping at the outlets, walking about downtown, playing at the pool, having fun at the beach, and cooking out. Here are some pictures I took of our weekend.

Everytime we have guests not from the south we love to take them for seafood! I don't get it that often since hubby hates seafood (he is crazy)!   I satisfied my crab legs, shrimp and oyster cravings. The oysters were huge and delicious!

The next day we went outlet shopping. The kids were troopers!

Carter brought the girls new dresses! How sweet. They looked adorable in them!

We came home from shopping and grilled steaks and the kiddos played in the yard.

We went to the pool on Sunday.

After the pool and well needed naps we headed downtown for dinner and dessert.

Monday we headed to the beach. The weather was perfect and it wasn't too crowded.

After the beach we were starving so we headed to one of our favorite post beach pizza joints.

It was a busy but fun weekend. We always have a great time when we have friends or family come visit with us! I hope you had just as much fun as we did. Our next vacation will be in June. We will be going up to Virginia for our niece's high school graduation and our trip to Williamsburg!

Thanks so much for reading along!

What I Wore Wednesday {wiww}

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend! I'll try to post a recap post on our fun times tomorrow. But it is Wednesday and that means today's post is all about wiww!

See this necklace? It's from J Crew and I've seen it everywhere on IG! Do I own this beautiful necklace? The answer would be no. No, because although it is pretty, it costs $148. That's just out of my price range. It's also sold out.

The good news is there are some great internet deals out there that sell similar options at a more reasonable price for all those bargain shoppers like me. I chose one offer by Brina Box but  Groopdealz and Very Jane have offered a similar deal recently too.

I don't have a red statement piece so this was the perfect necklace to pair with my red polka dot jeans.

Outfit Details:
Necklace: Brinabox
Shirt: Joe Fresh Collection at JCP
Pants: Old Navy
Shoes: Forever 21
Watch: Michael Kors
Bracelet: Stella & Dot

Did the craze of this necklace get to you? I know I'm guilty as charged.

Link-up Outfit Inspirations

I try to link up every Wednesday with ladies to share outfit inspirations. I love finding new outfits from every day women just like me and discovering new blogs. I picked a couple of outfits that I love and they are spotlighted below!
Maxi Skirt

(Photo from Preethi's blog, Lace, etc.)

I love this outfit because it seems so effortless. Maxi skirts are the perfect summer piece. This one especially stands out because of the coral shimmery color. I love how Preethi offered two ways to wear this outfit too!

Denim Vest

(Photo from Shanna's blog, Because Shanna Said So)

This is another great summer outfit. I have been loving the denim vest. It so easy to throw over a dress or over a t-shirt and jeans, the list goes on and on, so versatile! I like it because it can change the whole look of an outfit. Shanna's outfits are always so cute!

Sparkle Tops, Top Buns, and Ankle Boots

Photo from Nikki's blog, Bedazzles After Dark)

I picked this outfit for so many reasons. 1) I love how she accentuated her top bun with this cute bow clip. My hair isn't quite long enough for a high bun but if it was, I'd sport a cute bow like Nikki did here. 2) I love sparkle tops. I've been obsessed with this top and the white version on this one from jcrew but its been out of my price range. I love how she paired it with black denim skinnies and these camel colored ankle booties. That leads me to 3) I think ankle booties are great for any season. They are a great transition piece and go great with jeans, dresses, or skirts!

Do you like any of these looks? Which is your favorite?

Weekend Recap

So its been a crazy week so far but I didn't want to let it pass by what a great time I had while Noah's cousins came to visit last weekend. We spent the weekend eating, shopping, and playing on the beach. So fun! Here are just some pictures of our weekend!

First night we went downtown to eat outdoors

The next day the boys did their own thing while the ladies went outlet shopping. My mom babysat the girls so I was in heaven for a couple of hours!

We grilled out steaks that night and then later went out downtown for some adult fun!

I made rice krispie treats for dessert :) Yummy!

The next day we went to the beach. It was the first trip of the summer. Everyone had a great time!

Are you doing anything special for Memorial Day weekend? We have company coming again so I'll have to do another recap of those shenanigans next week. Hope you all have a fun and safe long weekend!

What I Wore Wednesday {wiww}

Hello friends! Gosh, its Wednesday already? I meant to recap last weekend because I had company in town and then my hubby went out of town for work and suddenly found no time to blog! That's just not going to work, so even though Wednesday is almost done, I'm going to post for this week's wiww.

I wore this outfit to work today. It was the first time styling this beautiful silver ball necklace! It goes great against this gray top. And I had to throw in the cobalt heels to add a pop of color :)

Outfit 1 Details:
Top and Black Shrug: Marshall's
Pants: H&M
Shoes: Vince Camuto
Bracelets: Stella and Dot and Juicy Couture
Necklace: Royal Ball by Ell and Emm (seen here)

I was inspired by Minnie Mouse for this next outfit. I wore this for an interview (plus a suit jacket). I didn't want to go for a button up so I went with a more feminine top. Hopefully it was enough to stand out from the other candidates interviewing too!

Outfit 2 Details:
Pants: Ann Taylor
Heels: Jessica Simpson
Top: Marshall's
Pearls: Forever 21
Watch: Michael Kors
Bracelet: Christina Link via Stella and Dot

This next outfit was such a fun pairing. I love the sea horse print on this top. It reminds me of summer! Mint and pink are always an easy combo! And if you don't have a pair of nude sandals, I think its a great idea because it goes with anything!

Outfit 3 Details:
Shirt and Skirt: Target (exact shirt) (exact skirt)
Sandals: Target
Necklace: Bauble Bar
Bracelet: Happy Wrist (luna bracelet)

Found this fun, edgy top at a recent trip to Marshall's. I like the stripes, the colors, and the skull button detail! I had to get it and for $12.99 why not?

Outfit 4 Details:
Top: Marshall's
Pants: Kohl's
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Rebel Pendant (a must buy) (found here)
Bracelet: Ily Couture (here) and Stella and Dot

Last week's Instagram #coasttocoastchallenge was maxi maxi! I chose to wear a chambray shirt over a old maxi dress I had. Super comfy!

Outfit 5 Details:
Dress and Shirt: Target
Wedges: Payless
Necklace: Sira & Mara (sold out but here are some options)
Watch: Michael Kors

Mother's Day 2013

It has come and gone but hope all the mommies out there had a wonderful day. Mine was spent with close friends and family at my mom's house. Good food, good company, good time, as always.

Being a mom is such a blessing. It is truly the only job I know that is both the hardest but the most fulfilling. Every day I'm presented with a sweet moment from either Lily and Ava or both. They can turn a bad day to the brightest day. I feel so blessed to have these two little girls in my life.

Just a few photos taken this past Sunday.

What it means to be Ava and Lily's mom this year (because with every age, being a mom to them will change):
  • snuggling in bed in the morning with Lily (she sleeps with me... shhh!)
  • answering the same questions over and over again. Like: "what do you do?" "What do you do when you have a boo boo?" Ava's at the stage where she asks about EVERYTHING!
  • having dance parties in the living room while we watch American Idol ("mommy's show")
  • laughing at all the words Ava can't say correctly like "Hello Titty" and "fank you"
  • witnessing the most dramatic temper tantrums that consisting of throwing oneself on the ground. Before Lily does it she always makes sure her head doesn't land on something hard so she does it slow motion! too funny!
  • getting random hugs and kisses in between them playing in another room
  • enjoying hard belly laughs. baby laughs are the best!
  • trying to get them to try ANY vegetables! Not sure how they live off noodles, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, peanut butter sandwiches, and french fries!
  • walking around with Lily attached to your legs. I'm dealing with a stage 5 clinger!
  • listening the Lily babbling on like she's making sense.
just to name a few. Love every crazy minute of my life. To another Mother's Day under my belt!
