26 Weeks

Holy Moly I'm getting biggg! This is a 26 week belly shot on Christmas Eve.
How far along? 26 weeks, 6 days

Total weight gain/loss: I've gained a total of 17 lbs so far. I am officially 140!!! Yikes. And the doctor is expecting me to gain at least 8-10 more!
Stretch marks? Still none thank goodness!

Sleep: I move alot during my sleep because I don't find it comfortable sleeping on my side so I end up sleeping on my back then waking up thinking "I cannot sleep on my back," so I roll on my side and the cycle starts all over.

Best moment this week: I went to the doctor yesterday to take my gestational diabetes/glucose test and I passed! Woo Hoo!

Movement: Ava moves around quite a bit. It's weird seeing my stomach move up and down. It is just a feeling I can't describe to anyone.

Food cravings: The usual. Sweets :)

What I miss: I miss being able to get up quicker and putting on my shoes and socks better.

What I’m looking forward to: January 11th because I'm getting another ultrasound and then January 17th because it's the date for my baby shower in VA!!!

Some Baby Developments: Ava's hearing is more sensitive than ever and she may be able to hear daddy's voice too. She is inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amnionic fluid which is essential for the development of her lungs. Ava weighs about a pound and 2/3 and measures about 14 inches. She's also continuing to put on baby fat.

Have Yourselves A Merry Little Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! I love watching everyone open up gifts in their pjs and the smell of breakfast cooking. I love that on Christmas day we are all scattered around the house playing with our Christmas gifts. It's been really pretty in Savannah since Noah's family came down. Last night it started raining but since everything is closed anyway it's perfect weather to stay in pjs all day, watch movies, vegg out on all the sweets we made last night, and enjoy the company of family.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

25 Weeks

According to babycenter.com Ava should be gaining some body fat and her skin is about to smooth out and she'll look more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair and if we could see it, we'd be able to see her hair color and texture.

I wonder all the time what she's going to look like, what features she'll take from me and which ones she's going to take from Noah. Is she going to have light hair color? Will her skin be pale? Will she have asian eyes? Will she have my dad's big ears? Or Noah's big noggin? All I know is that Noah and I will be totally in love with her!

She's quite active these days, kicking and turning all the time. I can't say the same for me. In the first trimester I was able to take long walks with Paxx. I tried to the other day and I couldn't make it. I've been feeling what they call round ligament pain alot since I've been in my second trimester. It's this sharp pain in my hips and my groin area. It hurts when I walk, when I get up, when I lay down. It's probably the most uncomfortable symptom of all the symptoms I've experienced with this pregnancy. The doctor says it's because my uterus has to stretch to the size of a watermelon! holy cow! The ligaments that surround my uterus and groin area have to stretch to accomodate this. Well ouch is all I have to say.
I have been super slack about taking belly pictures. That is my goal this week.

I'll Be Home For Christmas

I am so glad I'll be home for Christmas this year. One, because it's my first Christmas in our new house and second, because I hate the drive to Virginia (not to mention driving in the snow is not fun). Noah's family is coming down like they did last year so it should be fun times. I should be done with my Christmas shopping but I still want to pick up some small items for a few people. I have to work tomorrow but then I have the rest of the week off so hopefully I'll get that accomplished.

This weekend was pretty eventful. Last friday I was in a car accident that ended up totaling my poor civic. So on Saturday I took the money I got from my car accident and used it to buy Noah and I new cars. I ended up with a 2010 Honda Civic and Noah got a Honda Ridgeline. I was happy because now we have some reliable cars before the baby arrives. Merry Christmas to us!

Noah was sad to get rid of his beloved jeep but that car was just not practical or safe for the baby. It feels like we have everything in place right now and that is a good feeling. Now all we need is to get started on buying things for Ava's nusery. I'm looking forward to my baby showers in the next couple of months because right now I feel a little overwhelmed with all we need before the baby arrives. Time has been flying by and it is only going to keep going by fast. But I'm going to try and concentrate on all of that after the holidays. I'm looking forward to spending some qaulity time with family and just enjoying the time off. Life is good.

How Did I Get So Lucky?

I wanted this post to be by itself. Our lives are so busy sometimes and especially hectic during the holidays but there are some moments in there where you can sit and reflect at how lucky you truly are.

This year has been one I will remember forever. A year I was able to be in Savannah and really enjoy spending time with my family. And even though the beginning of this past April I suffered a miscarriage, I was blessed with a miracle when I found out I was pregnant again in July. I also would have never thought I would have been lucky enough to buy a house either this year.

But all of that was not the purpose of my post today. Like I was saying, there are some moments when you can really appreciate how lucky you are.

Last night after being discharged from the hospital and driving home, I realized I forgot my precription on the hospital bed. Noah turned around and went back up to my room to get it and then fill it at the pharmacy. I got home and settled down on the couch because I was exhausted from spending all day at the hospital. Noah made sure I didn't have to get up for anything. We ordered pizza and he made me a plate. I know it's not a big deal and I'm just being super mushy but in those small gestures I realized why I love being married to him. He has a really tough exterior most of the time but he really has a very nuturing side to him too. If he knew I had a post about him revealing this he would probably kill me. But lucky for me he doesn't read my blog so I'm in the clear. Don't blow my cover folks!

I cannot wait to see him as a dad. I have no doubt in my mind he will be the best daddy to Ava. She'll be spoiled silly and he will always be an active part in her life. What more could I ask for. how did I get so lucky??

Crappy Friday

I have a routine in the morning. Wake up, brush my teeth, put on my make-up, fix my messy hair, change, fix my breakfast/snacks and lunch for work, kiss noah good-bye, and drive to work. I was minding my own business driving to work and out of nowhere a van tries to turn in front of me. I tried to brake and avoid hitting it, but BAM, it's done. There's goes my Friday.

The lady and I are both fine. We call the police, a report is made, and my car is towed to some body shop. I was thinking I would just go work and deal with the insurance company. But it's not just me I have to worry about anymore so I call my doctor and they tell me to go to the emergency room.

Little did I know I would be there for the next 8 hours. The ER doctor gave me an ultrasound and Ava seemed perfect. She was doing just fine. But he talked to my doctor and he wanted me to undergo some more precautionary monitoring. They wheel-chaired me up to labor and delivery and I had a glimpse of what it's going to be like in about 4 months. It was a weird feeling. surreal. Well I got my own room, a more comfortable room than the triage room downstairs. The nurse hooked my belly up to some monitor and there I sat for the next two hours. At this point I hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast and some carrot sticks I thankfully stuck in my purse for my afternoon work snack. I was starving. I didn't think my day would be spent here so I didn't even tell Noah to come with me. My sister said I was crazy not to ask anyone to come up there so she came. She came with McDonald's. She's awesome. I ate like I've never eaten before! It was goooood.

My doctor finally arrived and he took a look at the series of papers the monitor had been spitting out for the past couple of hours. Apparently I had been having pre-term contractions! yikes. I didn't even feel anything. So just like that he ordered mandatory bedrest for the next three days and prescribed me some anti-contraction medication. There went my weekend and one full work day. Anyone would probably love three days of doing nothing. But anyone that knows me knows I don't like sitting still. I have lists. I have things to scratch off those lists. And I can only get up to go to the bathroom?? Boo.

But I have to remind myself that this is for Ava. She'll be worth all of this.

So, maybe I'll just relax, take this opportunity to pull out my Felicity dvds, and do some online shopping!

Thanks Crappy Friday. Thanks.

24 Weeks

Happy 24 weeks to me!

How the Baby is changing: This week the baby has gained approximately 4 ounces making her alittle over a pound and almost a foot long. Her body is filling out porportionally, her brain is growing quickly, and lungs are developing. Her skin is still thin and translucent but that will change soon.

How my Life is changing: um according to babycenter.com my uterus has risen above my belly button and is the size of a soccer ball! Holy cow! A soccer ball?

I went to the doctor last week and stepped on the scale to find out I have gained a total of 14 lbs. That seems like a lot to me, but the doctor says I'm gaining at a good pace. My appetite has also kicked it up a knotch too. At work I am constantly looking through my desks for hidden snacks. How bad is that? Oh well. I just hope Ava is nice and healthy :)

I came home to another New Baby Welcome Wagon gift! I think by far this is my favorite one!

L-O-V-E the I love mommy and I love daddy bibs! Just another reminder I'm going to be a mommy!!! How fun!

Where Has The Time Gone??

This year has seriously gone by too fast. I cannot believe Christmas is 2 weeks away. It's crazy. I have been so jealous because everyone has their Christmas tree up except me :( It's been so hectic with unpacking things in our house that we haven't had a chance to put one up. I haven't even finished Christmas shopping yet. Eeks! Well Hopefully I can knock both out this weekend!

Noah, Michael, and Anthony moved us in on Sunday. The first night in our house was nice. Paxx didn't know what to do with himself. He was following us around as we were unpacking driving us nuts. But poor baby. I think he was just terrified we were going to leave him. We have most of the basics unpacked. I haven't put up pictures and any decor up. I think once that stuff is all up I'll feel better. Right now it feels a bit bare.

This pregnancy has also gone by entirely too fast! I can't believe I'm almost done with my second trimester. I'm not sure if I'm more sad or excited. It guess it depends on when you ask me. I started my registry online but I haven't gone to the store with the fun gun thingy. I plan to do that soon because in the next couple of months I have baby showers to look forward to! I am lucky to be having one here in Savannah and then one in Virginia so I can visit with all my loved ones! My trip to VA in January will be my last bit of travel before the baby comes. I can't wait to meet her. The more time goes by the more excited at the thought of her.

Oh The Weather Outside is Frightful

I woke up today feeling like poop. Last night Noah and I went over to our house to finish painting! Alas we are done! Now all there is to do is move in. We are planning to do the big move this weekend.

Anyway, we didn't get home last night until about 11:00 so I didn't go to bed early like I wanted to do. I can only breathe out of one nostril, I sneeze every ten minutes, my throat is stratchy, and my body aches (not sure if that's due to the pregnancy or not). So going into work I wasn't feeling 100%. Lucky for me though, work graciously let us out early today because of some pretty crucial weather heading our way. I'm planning on taking advantage of the free time to get some well needed rest.

But aside from feeling crappy, Noah and I did receive another gift from the new baby welcome wagon!

Thank you!!
